Job Overview

Innovative Solutions currently has a challenging IT position available for a Systems Administrator to provide design, implementation and support of current and future customer networks. This is a consulting position for a Candidate that has the ability to work in a fast paced changing environment with multiple customers on multiple projects. This position will design, configure, install, troubleshoot and maintain Network Hardware and Software. This is a consulting role where you’re empowered to manage your own billable time.

Required Technical Experience

  • 4-year degree in IT, MIS, Applied Networking and Systems Administration or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years network support (post college)
  • Working knowledge of Internet, WAN and LAN, DNS, Active Directory, E-Mail, PC’s, Servers, Hardware, Software, VPN, Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Wireless, Backup and Disaster Recovery
  • Expert knowledge on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, Small Business Server, Microsoft Exchange 2003-2010, Win XP, Win 7
  • Technical certifications a plus (Microsoft, Cisco, Comptia)

Job Responsibilities

Network Design and Management

  • Performs analysis of network needs, recommends computer systems that best meets customer requirements, and contributes to design of network architecture, integration and installation
  • Evaluates local and wide area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
  • Oversees, prepares, and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts
  • Install, configure, and maintain:
    • Hardware - Servers, PC’s, Switches, Routers, Wireless, Smart Phone’s, SAN’s, Backup Devices, Network Racks
    • Software – Microsoft Server and Workstation OS’s, MS Office, Quickbooks, Peachtree, Act, TimeKeeper, and any other customer specific software packages
  • Coordinates activities of various vendors affecting customer networks
  • Contact vendor support where necessary to complete installation and configuration

Customer Focus

  • Provides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usage
  • Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs

Identifying and Meeting Client Needs

  • Advises client on alternate methods of solving need or problem, or recommends specific solution
  • Analyzes customer's needs and recommends computer system that best meets customer's requirements.

Administration and Management

  • Visits customers and guides the Innovative Account Manager or Technical Representative in best serving the customer
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and works with management to make technical decisions affecting the company
  • Acts as the “go to” person for PC Techs, Network Techs, and Customers
  • Plans and develops policies and procedures for carrying out computer operations
  • Trains other employees in both technical and non-technical areas
  • Assists management in choosing training and growth paths for employees
  • Provides support to employees having difficulty communicating with management or each other

Effective Communication

  • Emphasizes features such as flexibility, cost, capacity, and economy of operation
  • Writes and maintains technical documentation and specifications
  • Writes documentation or reviews documentation, written by others, that describes installations and operating procedures.
  • Training end users or technical support staff
